A filmic fragment shot during a women’s sex party in the punk and squatter scene of the 80’s, Sexparty works both as testament to the struggle for sexual liberation, as well as testimony of the precariousness of queer culture.
A filmic fragment that reflects something of the erotic and artistic climate of the time. In her early films, Angelika Levi starts from her immediate world of experience. She shows herself and her friends in the private and collective – entirely anti-bourgeois – retreats that protect them from the constraints of a hostile environment. She encounters this outside with ironic distance and also fantasies of violence. The refusal of a clear sexual identity plays an important role. (Kinothek Asta Nielsen)
